The 45 and Up Study is fully owned and managed by the Sax Institute, in collaboration with our partners and supporters.

The large scale and long-term nature of the 45 and Up Study, along with its unique collaborative and funding structure, has necessitated the creation of an explicit and accountable governance structure. This structure has been essential in establishing the 45 and Up Study as a state-wide resource open to use by researchers and policy makers.

The governance framework of the 45 and Up Study is designed to be responsive to the changing and emerging needs of the Study and its stakeholders. It is regularly reviewed, added to and revised. The main committees that currently make up this governance structure are the:

In addition to these main committees, short-term Topic Specific Advisory Groups will also be convened to provide detailed advice to the Strategic Advisory Committee about new projects within the Study.
