The Ageing Heart and Brain Study

Project aim(s):
Phase I of the Ageing Heart and Brain involves the analysis of baseline data derived from the 45 and Up study. The study aims to determine:
- Outcomes for patients with stroke, heart disease and Parkinson's Disease, such as self-rated quality of life and health status, prevalence of depression and anxiety and the prevalence and management of risk factors, where relevant. Variability in outcomes according to socio-economic status, age, gender and risk factors will be ascertained.
- The prevalence of depression and anxiety of patients with Parkinson's Disease.
- The effect of family history of self-reported Parkinson's Disease or stroke status.
- The prevalence and management of stroke risk factors, such as diabetes, hypertension, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, age, smoking and diet.
