Testing and treatment for prostate cancer in Australia: Epidemiology and modelling

Project aim(s):

  • Characterise testing and treatment pathways for prostate cancer in Australia.
  • Assess how prostate specific antigen (PSA) test history is associated with prostate cancer mortality and stage-specific prostate cancer incidence in Australia.
  • Adapt an existing prostate cancer model to predict the impact of population PSA testing on prostate cancer incidence and mortality for a range of testing scenarios.
  • These aims relate directly to the Cancer Australia priority area of early detection of cancer for improved prognosis and will be achieved through the following specific objectives.
