Selective estrogen receptor modules (SERMS) for early breast cancer: utilisation and outcomes in Australian practice
Investigators:
Frances Boyle, Max Bulsara, Mary Haines, Anna Kemp (PI), David Preen, Libby Roughead
Project aim(s):
Little is known about the way selective estrogen receptor modules (SERMs) are prescribed and used in Australian clinical practice. To date there is no Australian evidence with regard to i) the patient groups receiving different SERMS as their initial treatment, ii) the patient groups that switch between SERMs after commencing treatment, iii) why some patients switch SERMs, iv) the patient groups at risk of poorer outcomes due to non-adherence or early discontinuation of SERMs, and v) outcomes for patients using different SERMs. This project will examine these issues and provide the first Australian evidence of how SERMs are used outside of trial conditions.
