Relationship between demographic and lifestyle factors and asthma and hay fever in an older Australian population

Investigators:

Neil Misso and Hassan Vally

Project aim(s):

Asthma imposes a considerable economic and social burden of disease on the Australian community. Like other chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes, it has recently been shown that asthma is also influenced by lifestyle factors. The baseline questionnaire data from the 45 and Up Study and the statistical power associated with studying this large population cohort provide a unique opportunity to explore the associations between demographic and lifestyle factors with asthma and hay fever in an older Australian population.
