Health Behaviour Clusters

Investigators:

Barbara Griffin, Mike Jones, Kerry Sherman

Project aim(s):

Typically, health promotion programs and health communications are aimed to reach a particular subgroup of the population. Generally, the more specific the tailoring of the message to the characteristics of the subgroup, the more effective the communication and the more likely that attitudinal and/or behavioural change will take place. This project aims to:

  • Investigate whether people can be grouped to the range of health-related behaviours in which they engage
  • Identify the antecedents associated with memberships of these different groups or clusters of behaviours
  • Examine whether there are differential outcomes for members of different clusters.

This investigation should provide information on possibilities for improved health intervention.
