GIS mapping the 45Up cohort: Physical activity and its relationship to walkability

Project aim(s):

  • Construct an area–based objective NSW Walkability Index for Areas based on Census Collection Districts. Assess area–level construct validity of the NSW Walkability Index for Areas.
  • Construct an individual–level objective NSW Walkability Index for Households.
  • Assess the degree of agreement between scores and classifications derived from the NSW Walkability Indices for Areas and Households and the Leslie et al method
  • Investigate the relationship between physical activity, inactivity and walkability using physical activity variables
  • Investigate the potential modifying effects of individual level and area level socio-economic status on the relationship between physical activity and walkability.
