Acculturation and ageing: follow-up study of Vietnam-born and Lebanon-born older Australians

Project aim(s):
This project will recruit sub-cohorts of Lebanon- and Vietnam-born Australians to enrich the 45 and Up Study cohort. It will address the following research questions:

How do associations among demographic factors, health risk factors and health conditions vary according to country-of-birth group (Lebanon-born, Vietnam-born, Australian-born), and with measures of acculturation?

How do patterns of use of health services (general practitioner, emergency department, hospital inpatient) vary according to country-of-birth group, and with measures of acculturation?

How do patterns of use of health services and medications for specific health conditions (diabetes mellitus, mental health problems, smoking-related conditions) vary according to country-of-birth group, and with measures of acculturation?
