Consumer and Community Sub-Committee

The 45 and Up Study Consumer and Community Sub-Committee is a committee of the Community and Ethical Oversight Committee with a particular focus on the interests of potential and actual participants in the 45 and Up Study. Committee members are not representatives or advocates for any specific group or organisation. Rather, they have been chosen because they have an interest in healthy ageing and / or experience in a role as a consumer advocate. This committee meets four times a year.

Terms of reference

The terms of reference for the Consumer and Community Sub-Committee are to provide comment and advice on issues of participant and potential participant interest relating to the 45 and Up Study that are referred to it by the Community and Ethical Oversight Committee, including:

  • Study policies and protocols and the acceptability of these practices to Study participants and the community
  • procedures for responding to enquiries and complaints from the community or other information that may be sought by the community
  • a communication strategy for information to be provided to the community
